Having applied to five schools, high school senior Chris Scheumack ’96 was unsure of what his future held. However, as he drove along Highway 60 to participate in an overnight Corps of Cadets experience, Chris saw Aggieland and his future on the horizon. “I saw Kyle Field in the distance as I drove near Snook,” he recalled. “I knew immediately that none of the other schools mattered. Even from a distance, I knew I wanted to be an Aggie.”
His wife, Annie ’98, on the other hand, came from a long line of Aggies and grew up attending football games and spending time on the Corps of Cadets’ Quad. “There was no question as to where I would go; Texas A&M was the only place for me,” she said.
Despite different journeys, both Chris and Annie share a love for Texas A&M that has kept them invested in Aggieland long after leaving College Station and watching Kyle Field disappear from the horizon.
Their “Other Education”
Like their paths to Texas A&M, Chris and Annie found themselves involved in different areas of campus. Annie, an education major, was involved in the education honor society Kappa Delta Pi Mu Chi, the Texas Student Education Association and the Golden Key National Honor Society. Chris participated in the Corps of Cadets’ Company E-2, Mascot Company, and was responsible for caring for Reveille V and VI.
